Monica Schober – Soprano

Ms. Schober made her European debut singing Robert Pobitschka’s “Kyrie gewidmet an die Natur” accompanied by the composer in the Haydn Saal at Schloss Esterhazy. She has sung at Disney Concert Hall performing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and includes Wagner, Strauss and Verdi opera roles in her repertoire. Ms. Schober has performed with the Virginia Opera as Siegrune in Wagner’s Die Walküre, where she also covered the roles of Fricka and Sieglinde. She has also sung Gertrude in Humperdink’s Hansel und Gretel with Pacific Repertory Opera, a concert version of Ariadne auf Naxos with OperaWorks, and scenes from Tristan und Isolde as Brangäne with Shotgun Productions. Her performance of Wagner’s Wesendonk Lieder and songs of Strauss, Wolf, and Brahms at Steinway Hall, New York City with pianist Dr. Michael Schober has been featured in NHKTV specials. They have performed their site specific program of Songs & Light at the New School/Parsons School of Design in New York and in Los Angeles, most recently at Live at the Lounge. Ms. Schober is a fine artist and the images and film seen in this most recent program of Songs & Light are hers. She is also in great demand as a performer of the lighter Viennese fare. She has studied with Giuseppe Bergamo and Judith Natalucci, and coaches with Armen Guzelimian in Los Angeles, David Aronson in Vienna, and Oresta Cybrisk.
