Cuban-American soprano Susana Díaz is an accomplished opera singer and recitalist. Her warm, crystalline timbre and intelligent, artistic style bring polished interpretations to the concert and stage. Ms. Diaz has been featured by many leading regional companies including the Cincinnati Opera, Dayton Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Orlando Philharmonic and Ballet Florida.  In South Florida, Ms. Díaz has appeared twice with the University of Miami’s Festival Miami, Artist Series of Sarasota, Classic Chamber Concerts of Naples, Gold Coast Opera, Miami Lyric Opera, Pro-Arte Grateli, and the Florida Chamber Orchestra.  Her roles include Violetta in La Traviata, Gilda in Rigoletto, Adina in L’Elisir d’amore, Elvira in I Puritani, Musetta in La Boheme, Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, the title roles of Lakmé and Lucia di Lammermoor.

Ms. Díaz recently made her South American concert debut at the Teatro Solis in Montevideo, Uruguay.  Other recent debuts include performances at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in Pasión por la Zarzuela, with Orchestra Miami in Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915, and performances with the Orlando Philharmonic.  Ms. Diaz has been a featured with the Miami Symphony Orchestra in Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 and the Concert Association of South Florida’s Zarzuela Tonight! at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.  Ms. Diaz will be seen as a guest concert artist with the Vero Beach Opera and in recital with the Sarasota Artist Series in 2012.

Equally at home on the recital stage, Ms. Díaz is known for exploring and performing a vast array of song repertoire.  An engaging recitalist and concert singer, Susana specializes in a wide variety of Hispanic vocal music, from zarzuela to songs from Cuba, Spain, and the Americas.  She is also a champion of contemporary music, with special emphasis on the vocal works of Anton Webern and Aurelio de la Vega.

Susana was an award winner of the Metropolitan Opera District Auditions, a finalist in the Columbus Opera Competition and a winner of the Schloss Leopoldskron Voice Competition in Salzburg, Austria.  Ms. Díaz holds a Master of Music degree from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
