Mr. Palma originally majored in optical and mechanical engineering for two years while in Pasadena City College before discovering he had singing potential. After finishing with PCC, Mauricio went on to Cal State Northridge where he pursued his degree in Vocal Performance Major. He began his journey with singing because of a suggestion from a college counselor to remedy a stuttering condition which may be due to a learning disability called expressive/receptive dysphasia which was remedied within 3 years. With the help of instructors, Mauricio was able to find jobs for movie soundtracks, television commercials, and back up singer for one of Barbara Streisand’s recordings. He has performed in various principal roles such as Figaro in Marriage of Figaro, Papageno in Magic Flute and other operas performing in The Tenderland, La Boheme, The Coronation of Poppea and other obscure operas. Mauricio has been with the Verdi Chorus since ‘93 and always considered Verdi Chorus his other family.
