Joe Michels
Joseph Michels hails from Washington State. He received his Bachelors Degree in Music at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma and Masters in Music at Washington University in St. Louis, where he played Little Bat in Susannah, Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte and Don Ramiro in La Cenerentola. He was a Young Artist Scholarship recipient in the Bach Society of St. Louis and played Brighella in Union Avenue Opera’s production of Ariadne auf Naxos. He relocated to Los Angeles in 2007 and has been locally active in music. In spring of 2008 he toured with Opera a la Carte as Luiz in The Gondoliers and sang the role of Vasek in The Celestial Opera Company’s production of The Bartered Bride. He spent the summer of 2008 at Opera New Jersey participating in their Young Artist Program, where he covered Njegus in The Merry Widow. He has appeared with Center Stage Opera as Don Curzio in Le nozze di Figaro and Spoletta in Tosca. In 2009 he appeared with the Los Angeles Opera chorus in The Birds. Most recently he sang the role of Belmonte with The Celestial Opera Company in The Abduction from the Seraglio.
